VOLUNTEER CELEBRATION HITS ROTORUA

The once-a-year opportunity to celebrate volunteers has hit town, with nominations now open for the TrustPower Spirit of Rotorua Awards.

The Awards, run in conjunction with the Rotorua District Council, are open to all voluntary groups working for the benefit of the Rotorua region.

There is a huge number of voluntary organisations contributing their time and effort to strengthen this community. This is your chance to turn the spotlight onto those who usually work behind the scenes.

Anyone can nominate a voluntary group? groups can even nominate themselves.

The awards cover five categories;

? Heritage and Environment

? Community Health and Wellbeing

? Community Arts and Culture

? Community Sport and Leisure

? Education and Child/Youth Development

Plus an Overall Winner.

This year more than $5,000 in prize money is up for grabs. TrustPower sponsors $1,500 for the overall winner, $500 for each category winner and $250 for each category runner-up.

The overall winner represents Rotorua at the TrustPower National Community Awards that are usually held the following March.
