The TOHU Project is an opportunity to work towards a National Diploma in Youth Work.
The trainers will come to Taupo 4x per year for 2/3 day workshops over 22 months. There will also be monthly cluster meetings held by your local mentor. This course is offered as an option for youth workers who are already in employment - in any combination of paid and/or voluntary work.
The applicant should be over 20; have a minimum of 2 years experience with young people; be in a position of leadership and responsibility within a youth work project and have employer support.
The Orientation Day is set for Monday 17th May, 10 am - 1 pm, at Hone Tu Whare room, Taupo Library, Story Place, Taupo (directions to the Library - turn right (if you are coming from Tokoroa/Rotorua, left if you are coming from Turangi way) at our only set of lights on State Highway 1 in the middle of town - then turn right again directly into carparks - you will see the Library in front of you - a little on your right!

One of the requirements for this training is that you are affiliated with your nearest Youth Workers Network Group. In Taupo this group has evolved into the Community Advisory Group - coordinated by Sarah Clarke - you can contact Sarah on sarah@reap.org.nz to be a member of the database for this group - there are monthly meetings and newsletters supporting people that work with young people and their families/whanau. Sarah will also be doing this TOHU training.
Other training dates for TOHU training in Taupo for your calendar are:
June 9 - 10th Foundations Workshop
August 17 - 19 RAP Workshop
Please RSVP to Jenny Steadman, Taupo District Council at jsteadman@taupo.govt.nz to confirm your interest in attending the Orientation Day.
There are groups coming from Taranaki, Rotorua and Tokoroa to do this training so there would be an opportunity to car-pool.
