» 26/10/2010, Posted by Site Admin

Aotearoa New Zealand Association of Social Workers (ANZASW) is consulting on a proposal to provide professional body coverage for the allied social services support worker workforce in addition to social workers. This workforce could include:
- Youth workers
- Mental health and addiction support workers
- Health promoters
- Disability support workers
- Needs assessment and service coordinators (NASC)
- Age care support workers
and others.

In essence professional body coverage for this workforce will provide leadership, a Code of Ethics, Practice Standards, a Competency Assessment Programme, Continuing Professional Development activities and local Branch and Roopu networks and accesses to Interest Groups, indemnity insurance and a complaint management system.

ANZASW is seeking feedback from as many stakeholders as possible.

See attached discussion document.

Available on the ANZASW website http://anzasw.org.nz/category/discussiondocument/ are:
- Communications Plan and the Discussion document
- Word format submission forms
- Online submission form

Submissions and feedback will be accepted up to 17 December 2010.
