The Rotorua District Council invites Proposals from interested parties seeking to deliver FreeParking: Youth Sport and Recreation delivery in Western Heights, Fordlands, Koutu and Eastern Suburbs communities over a three year period.

This is a fixed fee contract for the sum of $224,500.00 exclusive of GST over a 3 year period.

Activities will take place on the local Youth Spaces: youth recreation hubs located on parks and reserves in the four said communities which will include skateboarding features, basketball/netball multi court, safety lighting and seating.

FreeParking aims to provide free sport and recreation opportunities and activities on parks and reserves within the four Rotorua neighbourhoods of Western Heights, Koutu, Fordlands and plans for Eastern Suburbs to young people aged 16 to 20 years. The Rotorua District Council has signed a three year contract with SPARC for the delivery of FreeParking.

FreeParking will expand on the Rotorua District Council's Youth Spaces Project, creating community sport and recreation hubs. Theses hubs will offer an array of programmes, unstructured and structured activities and facilitated play on parks and reserves. The programmes will encourage young people to develop a passion for sport and recreation.

FreeParking is taking a community development approach to these sites by involving young people, schools, community associations, sport codes and Sport Bay of Plenty, to help create a community culture of participation, with sustainable outcomes.
