Leadership and Project Management in Youth Work

» 15/07/2011, Posted by Site Admin

This is the next workshop in the TOHU - National Diploma in Youth Work series and is open to anyone who works with young people and their families, even if you are not enrolled in the full Diploma.

This is the largest module (42 credits) in the TOHU series. It is taught and assessed across three workshops. The reason for spreading the series out is to enable students to apply what they are learning to their practice, and reflect on it as they go. You can however just take part in this workshop, and not continue with the next two. Tohu students will work towards credits for their learning, while non-Tohu students will receive a Certificate on completion.

In order to get the most out of these workshops it would help if you were in a role where you have responsibility for either an organisation, or for an on-going project within an organisation. It is important that your role will allow you to gain experience in the following areas:
* Planning and organising your use of time
* Finding and developing a team.
* Programme planning and evaluation.
* Safety management.
* Managing the dosh (the money).
* Engaging with community stakeholders in your project (eg. schools, whanau, funders)
