The Rotorua District Council is currently seeking applications for the 2012 Youth Council (RDYC).
RDYC is a team of diverse young people aged 13-18 yrs who provide a youth perspective to what the District Council does and other issues affecting young people. The team is a mixture of ethnicity, age, geographic location, gender & experience.
RDYC meet fortnightly to discuss current youth issues, learn a bit about local government & decision making, get involved in our community and help give Rotorua a youth voice. RDYC also helps support and organize youth events and activities and participate in various local and national initiatives.
Youth Council will meet every second Tuesday during 2012, as well as attend training on the 10th, 11th & 12th February.
Twenty young people will be shortlisted and be asked to participate in an interview on the 9th or 10th December 2011. The 15 youth councillors will then be selected and notified by the 15th December.
